According to police, Shiva Shankar Madisetty wanted to marry this girl and his parents had even approached her parents in this regard. However, when the girl rejected the proposal he reportedly got dejected and projected her as a call girl and posted vulgar details about her with her name, mobile phone number, and morphed photographs.

In the girl's profile he reportedly put false postings with titles like ‘Mumbai Escorts’, ‘Chennai Escorts’ after giving her details. Once she started getting calls, she approached the police and filed the complaint, leading to the arrest of the so-called dejected suitor.

The fake profile, which solicited customers, with “fix an appointment’’ message has created unimaginable agony to the girl and her family, said the police.

This development raises a major issue. How safe are girls online, especially when they upload their photographs and personal details? Is this an indication that technological advancements often have a negative sides too?
