Tech writers to gather in Chennai

PUNE: The Society for Technical Communication (India Chapter) has announced its Sixth Annual conference to be held at Taj Connemara, Chennai on December 3 and 4, 2004.

The conference is expected to attract about 250 technical writers and communicators from all over the country.

Chandra Sekaran, Executive VP, Cognizant Technology Solutions, will inaugurate the conference. Chandra Sekaran has been with Cognizant Technology Solutions for over 10 years. He has been instrumental in growing the company from a small offshore development center of the Dun & Bradstreet Group to an over 500 million dollar company. Chandra manages the entire offshore operations for Cognizant, including key alliances, capacity growth, process initiatives, business development, and delivery.

James Romano, Ph.D - Linguistics, Director-Sponsor Region 6, President and CEO Prisma International, Minneapolis, Minnesota, will delivery the keynote address.

Other speakers include Roger Dearth, Senior STC member, Francisco Abedrabbo, Director of Documentation in the Server Technologies Division of Oracle Corporation, Katriina Valli, Business Development Manager at Citec Information in Finland, Erin Bank, Manager, Technical Publications Computer Associates International, Inc. Vijay Tase, CEO, Peer Technical Services Pvt. Ltd, Dr. Beena Chintalapuri is Head of Department of Psychology in Osmania University, Aoyon Chowdhury, author of a bestseller 'Java API for XML' and various other senior members from the tech writing community.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to network with peers in other organizations and discover solutions to common problems by sharing experiences.

According to Ramesh Aiyyangar, Conference Program Manager and STC India Administrative Council Member, is in the sixth year of organizing this conference. "It is our cherished dream to have technical communicators equipped with the right knowledge that will enable them to perform optimally in their workplaces through conferences such as these", he said.

Founded in the USA in 1953, the Society of Technical Communication (STC) has over 25,000 members worldwide. The India Chapter was formed in 1999.
