Tech Mahindra expands Chennai operations

CHENNAI, INDIA: Tech Mahindra has set up a new 1.2 Lakh sq. ft development center at Mahindra World City in Paranur, Chennai with an investment of Rs 30 crore.

The facility will house about 1400 software engineers. Tech Mahindra expects to scale up the facility, both in size and in investments, in the next three-four years.

The company will leverage this new facility at Chennai to expand its telecom R&D business in addition to the development of its telecom application business.

The company will also service global Telecom Equipment Manufacturers and Telecom Services Providers from this center. The new development center will accomodate 400 professionals in the first phase with plans of adding 1000 people in the next 18 months.

“We are keen to tap the local talent pool in Chennai in the areas of R&D, Applications and BPO and make this center a major hub in the region, ” said TS Krishnakumar, center head, Tech Mahindra.

This is Tech Mahindra’s seventh development center in the country. The company already has centers in Noida, Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
