Teasing ends..M in Android 6.0 stands for Marshmallow!

BANGALORE, INDIA: Google ends the suspense game..finally as vice president of engineering for Android, Dave Burke posted a picture of the Android robot on his Twitter feed - holding a marshmallow.

Google even teased the enthusiasts with an YouTube video posted by Googlers Nat and Lo which threw multiple desserts' names starting with M such as Milkshake, Mango lassi, Mousse, Moon pie, Macaroon, Maple Syrup and so on. The list was long enough to keep the guessing game alive.

Soon after Burke's Twitter post tonight, the Android Developers Blog, confirmed the name Marshmallow and released the final developer preview with the Android 6.0 software development kit.

The final API update is fairly incremental compared to the previous developer preview update, says the blog.

Along with the new platform features such as fingerprint authentication and Android for Work, Android M features a new permissions model that streamlines the app install and update process.
