"The opportunity and demand for new technologies is solid. Today, the proliferation of new technologies is at such a pace that large companies are depending on companies like us, because it (new technologies) makes it hard for them to maintain in-house IT, developing new skill-sets and keep doing business at the same pace as before," said N Chandrashekaran, CEO and managing director, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), here recently.

He also stated that he does not see any slump in technology spending because new technologies promise huge possibilities of growth for businesses as well as IT service providers.

"TCS is constantly building new capability making investments in digital analytics and cloud platform. So, the overall pie of the market - in terms of solutions, services, industry and market - that we can address is expanding," he added.

When it comes to adoption of new technologies and platforms, he opined that adoption of a platform, as against services, is long term oriented because in a platform model, even the customer has to undergo changes as well. So, for you to have a platform you should have a solid value proposition, and at the same time customer readiness is also important.

Although he refused to share details about the company's investment and current and expected revenues from its cloud platforms, he pointed out that all of the company's platform solutions which are on cloud are seeing good momentum.

However, it is necessary to have some patience with the new investments. And, once they gain more momentum, revenues from such platform will also increase, he observed. And, with regards to whether the company will sustain its position in the share market, he wrapped it up saying that he can never predict stock market.
