NEW DELHI: TCS has retained its lead in IT software and

service exporters in India followed by Infosys and Wipro, according to the

NASSCOM survey released today.

NASSCOM released the rankings of Top 20 IT software and service exporters in
India (excluding ITES-BPO revenues). This list does not include companies such

as Cognizant, Accenture, IBM and HP which are US listed companies but have

significant offshore operations in India — and would have been placed amongst

the Top 10 of this list if they were to be ranked. In addition, companies such

as Kanbay, Syntel and Intelligroup — all with an India-centric global delivery

model but unable to provide India specific revenue details are excluded from

this list.

Kiran Karnik, President, NASSCOM, said, “India's services exports grew by over
33 percent in FY06 to clock revenues of $17.3 billion, led by a strong demand

and increased traction for traditional services like ADM, new services like EAI

and package implementation, and new areas like engineering services.”

“The industry has been able to maintain this growth, despite a larger base,
through large client wins, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, and the

movement of the industry towards a stable pricing model,” he added.

According to the survey, IT software and services has added over 120,000
employees in the last fiscal. There is demand in traditional areas like custom

Application Development and Maintenance (CADM), System Integration and IT

Consulting, Application Management and IS Outsourcing/ Infrastructure management

services. Other emerging areas include software testing and Service-oriented

architecture and Web services. Leading MNC IT companies have operations in

India, accounting for 16 per cent of their delivery capabilities in offshore

locations with India accounting for 70 per cent of the total offshore employee

base.
