CHENNAI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced strengthening of
relationship with Best Buy Co. Inc., the US-based retail major of consumer
electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances.

TCS has been providing services such as application development, maintenance
and enhancements, performance engineering, process definition and deployment for
Best Buy, for the last two years. It operated out of onsite and offshore models
for the latter, and more than 140 consultants are presently engaged in the
project.

"We are proud to be associated with Best Buy for over two years and TCS
is the largest solution provider for Best Buy out of India earning $10 million
this year," said S Mahalingam, executive vice president, Tata Consultancy
Services.

Recently, Best Buy appointed Wipro as its strategic solution provider
operating out of India through offshore model. "Over 80 professionals (from
Wipro) are working with us," said Tim Bates, director – Business Office,
Best Buy Co., Inc.

Best Buy plans to focus on bringing digital and broadband services to its
stores in business and increase its offshore spending significantly in the
coming years.

"Presently, TCS and Wipro are the only strategic partners for Best Buy
operating out of India and there are no immediate plans of identifying more
vendors from this region," said Bates. TCS is the exclusive Application
System Maintenance partner for Best Buy in India.

Best Buy may also consider outsourcing business process, transaction
processing and back-end operation to Indian companies, in the coming years.
