MUMBAI: Software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday
said it has started operations in the Iberoamerican region comprising of Mexico,
Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
"The establishment of a new geographic focus area at TCS, is a
continuation of our focus on new and emerging regions and become more
client-centric," a statement quoting S. Ramadorai, TCS' chief executive,
said.
TCS has appointed Gabriel Rozman, formerly head of Ernst & Young's Latin
American operations, as the regional director of TCS Iberoamerica. Rozman will
initially take charge of TCS' existing operations in Spain, the statement said.
Unlisted TCS, a division of Tata Sons which is the holding company of the
Tata group, is India's largest software exporter. Its diversification move is a
continuation of a drive seen in many Indian software companies.
These firms which have been earning over 60 per cent of their export revenue
from North America, are increasingly trying to expand their geographic reach to
overcome the effects of the slowdown in the United States.
