TCS opens RFID tech center in the US

MUMBAI: IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has announced the opening of its "RFID Technology Center" in Chicago, Illinois. The TCS RFID Technology Center will provide consulting services and solutions to enterprises pursuing business strategies that capitalize on radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies. It will house "off-site" teams supporting TCS customer projects, in addition to serving as a hotbed for RFID testing and benchmarking for TCS customers throughout the world.

The company currently has more than 9,000 employees and 55 offices in the US and Canada.

"RFID is changing the way that many industries do business, from the supply chain to the end user, and has the potential to revolutionize the way companies manage their products," said president of TCS North America, Arup Gupta.

" The TCS RFID Technology Center will provide the kind of expertise, training and strategic advice customers need for smooth and successful RFID implementations," he added.

In 2003, TCS established a dedicated RFID practice, including a lab in India, that offers services covering the full spectrum of RFID deployment including business consulting, architecture design, RF equipment selection and installation, software development and implementation, and systems integration and maintenance.
