TCS launches new campus in Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR, INDIA: Tata Consultancy Services, (TCS), a leading IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organisation, announced the launch of its development centre TCS Kalinga Park in Bhubaneswar, Orissa.

The facility was inaugurated by Naveen Patnaik, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Orissa, in the presence of Surjya Narayan Patro, Hon’ble Minister of Energy, Culture & Information Technology, Orissa and Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, IT, Orissa and TCS leadership team of S Ramadorai, CEO & MD, N Chandrasekaran, COO and executive director and S. Mahalingam, CFO and executive director as well as B Muthuraman, MD, Tata Steel.

TCS Kalinga Park, which was developed in over 45 acres of land, would become the latest addition to the company’s unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM). The first unit of the facility with a capacity of 1,000 seats had been made operational in the first phase. Upon completion, the facility would have a total capacity of 7,000 seats.

TCS Kalinga Park would be among the greenest buildings in India and had been recognised as India's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated IT Campus conforming to the highest LEED certification rating - Platinum.

The campus was an approved Special Economic Zone and would serve as global TCS customers in industry segments like banking & financial services, retail, insurance and government, with a focus on technology areas like enterprise solutions, assurance services, infrastructure services, BPO as well as IT services.

S Ramadorai, CEO & MD, TCS, said, “With a strong education eco-system and plentiful talent, Orissa has emerged as a key resource base for TCS in the region. The new centre will also increase our access to skilled professionals and students from in and around Bhubaneswar.”

“Tier II and Tier III cities have the potential to drive the next phase growth for the IT industry.  Over 70 percent campus hiring at TCS happens from Tier II and Tier III cities. The new campus at Bhubaneswar reiterates our commitment to the development of new centers of excellence, enhance the suitability of talent pool as well as drive inclusive economic growth,” he added.
