TCS inks deal with Felda Prodata

KUALA LUMPUR, INDIA: India IT gaint Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Felda Prodata Systems today announced the signing of a collaboration agreement to jointly develop for and deliver strategic Information Technology (IT) services and solutions to the Malaysian market.

Both organisations would jointly identify opportunities as part of their ‘go-to-market’ efforts to provide IT services and participate in tenders from government agencies, said a press release.

Witnessing this milestone agreement was the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sri’ Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, whose vision of taking Felda companies to the global market is in sync with this agreement.

The collaboration is the first between the two organizations to leverage their expertise. The deal is expected to impact positively the IT industry both in the Malaysian and regional markets.

Under this agreement, both organizations would jointly take forward their key IT initiatives in a timely, efficient and effective manner to service customers.

They would also jointly develop and market IT solutions and services to local companies, Malaysian government-linked companies (GLCs) and global companies within Malaysia, the release added.

"The full potential of this relationship is to combine the global experiences of Tata Consultancy Services with the in-country knowledge and capabilities of Prodata for the benefit of Malaysian Customers," said Vish Iyer, president, TCS Asia-Pacific.

He added that they believed the two organizations have complementary capabilities and they were very excited at the power of combining these to create a full service portfolio leveraging a larger pool of local talents.

Fauzi Ghani, CEO of Prodata added: "This collaboration marks an exciting chapter for Prodata. It injects the global experience and strength of TCS into our service portfolios and capabilities in offering differentiated IT solutions and services to our customers. This 'glocal' relationship creates strong synergies in both business and talent development. It will help to accelerate Prodata’s vision to become the national IT company in Malaysia”.

TCS and Prodata will share their technology expertise in areas including but not limited to Open Source Solutions, SAP-ERP application, application development and maintenance, shared services/Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), infrastructure services and Business Intelligence & Performance Management (BIPM), the release added.

The collaboration between TCS and Prodata is to serve as a conduit of technical expertise and IT skill development into the companies’ respective workforces in Malaysia, thereby building a centre of excellence leveraging on global experience and local market requirements.
