TCS to host IT wiz in Bangalore

BANGALORE, INDIA: IT major Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), recently announced that the 2010 Bangalore edition of TCS IT Wiz - India’s largest tech quiz for schools — will be held on 5th August, Thursday at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Vyalikaval (Near Sankey Tank), Bangalore.

The Regional rounds of TCS IT Wiz this year would be held in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Kochi, Lucknow, Delhi and Mumbai. This nation wide event is expected to reach over 2, 00,000 students, said a press release.

The quiz is open to school students studying from Class 8 — 12.

The Regional rounds will be followed by a National Finals in December where the winning teams from the 12 Regional rounds will compete for TCS IT Wiz National Champion title.

Nagaraj Ijari, Vice President & Head TCS Bangalore Operations said, “Over the past 12 years, TCS IT Wiz has become extremely popular with the tech savvy generation. We have been raising the bar of the quiz to trigger a passion for IT among students every year.”

He added that TCS IT Wiz strives to enhance IT awareness among students keeping them abreast of the latest developments in the world of IT as it plays an increasing role in today's economy and society.

The 2010 TCS IT Wiz Regional winners will walk away with laptops and the runners-up will be rewarded Netbooks. The 6 finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from backpacks, MP3 players, headphones, T shirts, water sippers, etc., the release added.
