TCS to focus on bioinformatics, increases manpower

HYDERABAD: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will be ramping up its operations

in Hyderabad, and will be adding over 2000 software professionals to its rolls

at its Hyderabad center. "We are going in for some expansion in manpower at

this center to meet our demands. We are building our own center in Madhapur near

the Hi-Tech city and the focus would be on bioinformatics. The center will be

located on 11 acres of land and the building is expected to be ready within two

years," said, TCS executive vice president S Mahalingam.

A division of Tata sons, TCS, currently has 1,020 software engineers working

at three different offices in the city. "After the development center is in

place we are going to move all our professionals to our center in Madhapur. We

are going to invest between Rs 70 to Rs 100 crore for our development center in

Madhapur," he added.

TCS Hyderabad is involved in the telecom, banking, government and healthcare

industry practice. The company is now eyeing the bioinformatics space in the AP

region. "We are going to focus on bioinformatics, computer security and

telecom for our operations in Hyderabad," he explained.
