NEW DELHI: India’s largest software services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has expanded its global delivery model with the opening of an "Automotive Center of Excellence (CoE)" in Detroit to serve its North American automotive customers. The center will be fully functional within the next two months and TCS anticipates hiring 50 local automotive professionals in the next 12-18 months.

According to the press release, TCS counts the Detroit based automotive OEMs, Ford, General Motors and DaimlerChrysler among its customers, as well as several of the automotive industry's leading tier-one suppliers, including Johnson Controls and Eaton. The CoE is an extension of TCS' current presence in Detroit, where the firm maintains a development center. The existing development center also has plans to scale up in the coming year.

TCS offers a wide range of integrated engineering and industrial services to manufacturers in the auto industry. Services that will be provided out of the new center include new product introduction (NPI), product engineering, process engineering, industrial automation, enterprise asset management, industrial embedded systems, and supply chain optimization.

The opening of the center marks the latest domestic growth of TCS America, which has been expanding its North American operations, and currently has more than 50 offices in the US and Canada.
