TCS to computerize emigration system: report

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), the country’s largest software company, has been reportedly selected by the Ministry of Overseas Affairs to implement a project to computerize and automate the emigration system.

The project, worth around Rs 100 crore, will enable the automation of the clearance process by electronically linking the offices of the Protector-General of Emigrants, LiveMint.com reported today, citing an official in the ministry. The project is to facilitate the tracking of all Indians on work visas abroad and provide support services to them.

The deal "will be formally announced in a couple of weeks,” the official said on condition of anonymity as he’s not authorized to speak to the media.

TCS is also handling the Passport Seva Project of the Government of India
