BHUBANESWAR, ORISSA: Tata Consultancy Services, a provider in IT services, business solutions and outsourcing organization, recently announced the launch of its development center TCS Kalinga Park in Bhubaneswar, Orissa.
The facility was inaugurated by Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister, Orissa, in the presence of Surjya Narayan Patro, Minister of energy, culture and information technology, Orissa and Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, IT, Orissa and TCS leadership team comprising S Ramadorai, CEO and managing director, N Chandrasekaran, COO and executive director and S. Mahalingam, CFO and executive director as well as B Muthuraman, managing director, Tata Steel.
TCS Kalinga Park, which is being developed over 45 acres of land, is the latest addition to the company's unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM), said a press release. The first unit of the facility with a capacity of 1,000 seats has been made operational in the first phase. Upon completion, the facility will have a total capacity of 7,000 seats.
TCS Kalinga Park is among the greenest buildings in India and has been designed as India's first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated IT Campus conforming to the highest LEED certification rating – Platinum, said the release.
Commenting on the new facility in Bhubaneswar, S. Ramadorai said, "With a strong education ecosystem and plentiful talent, Orissa has emerged as a key resource base for TCS in the region. The new center will also increase our access to skilled professionals and students from in and around Bhubaneswar."
He further added that Tier II and Tier III cities have the potential to drive the next phase growth for the IT industry. “Over 70 per cent campus hiring at TCS happens from Tier II and Tier III cities. The new campus at Bhubaneswar reiterates our commitment to the development of new centers of excellence, enhance the suitability of talent pool as well as drive inclusive economic growth."
The campus is an approved Special Economic Zone and will serve global TCS customers in industry segments like banking and financial services, retail, insurance and government with a focus on technology areas like enterprise solutions, assurance services, infrastructure services, BPO as well as IT service the release further added.
