Tata Tele announces launch of GSM services

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Tata Teleservices, India's second largest CDMA telecom operator, today announced the launch of mobile services on the GSM platform under the Tata DoCoMo brand.

Tata Tele is launching this platform in partnership with Japanese telecom services provider NTT DoCoMo.

Tata Tele said the service would be commercially rolled out in south India towards the end of this month, followed by the western and northern regions.

The company would be investing $2 billion in the operations and has plans to expand the GSM service nationwide by the year-end.
