Tata, Samsung unveil dual SIM smart phone

HYDERABAD: Tata Teleservices and Samsung Telecommunication have announced the launch of first touch screen based Dual SIM smart world phone - Samsung Duo in India. The Dual SIM phones contain two SIM slots, unlike normal phones, which have only one.

Samsung Duo features large 2.2” TFT Touch Screen, 1.3 Mega Pixel camera, Micro SD Card Slot, MP3/ AAC+ Player with A2DP Bluetooth support. On the software front the handset packs in handwriting recognition, file viewer, sketch memo, advanced organiser capability with functional screen and the first time special India specific applications of Indian calendar, Hinglish, Mobile Prayer, panchang and cricket scorer.

Vinayak Deshpande, president Enterprise Solution, Tata Teleservices Limited, said, “This is an extension of our commitment and in line with our strategy to offer superior CDMA technology to our customers and facilitate customers from any network to switch to Tata Indicom and thereby experience the difference. The introduction of Samsung Duo is an opportunity for customers to now move to Tata Indicom without worrying about voice clarity, call drops or their old number.”

The handset also supports data speeds at the robust speed of 153kbps on Tata Indicom network and can be connected to your laptop through Bluetooth. The handset is priced at Rs 11,999.
