Tata Elxsi releases Maya 2.5 in India

BANGALORE: Tata Elxsi the master reseller for Alias Wavefront in India has announced the launch of Maya 2.5 in India, which is an animation and modeling software.

Tata Elxsi managing director & CEO S. Devarajan said, " Maya 2.5 with its advanced features, will definitely be a boon to the Indian post production houses. This will give a greater impetus to the 3D-animation industry in the country."

According to the company press release, Maya 2.5 delivers advanced functionality and performance to digital content creators in the film, broadcast, video, and the games and interactive media markets. Paint Effects, a new feature of Maya 2.5, is an artist's tool for creation and animation of organic and painterly effects. As per the press release, a major feature of Paint Effects is the extensive library of 2D and 3D preset brushes, that are used to create a virtually unlimited number and variety of real and surreal organic forms such as hair, trees, flowers, feathers, fire, lightning and stars. Other features in Maya 2.5 include multi-threaded interactive photorealistic rendering, to allow use of additional processors for speed and workflow. The new Maya Builder software includes polygonal modeling and texturing tools.
