Tata Elxsi launches embedded operating systems

BANGALORE: Tata Elxsi, a provider in embedded designs and engineering services, today announced the launch of its embedded operating system – RoS-ES (Real-Time Operating System for Embedded System).

The system is focuses to expand the set of applications for embedded processors, RoS-ES delivers unmatched performance with an ultra compact footprint, said a press release.

RoS-ES is available on ARM and Xtensa/Tensilica platforms targeting network equipment, automotive, consumer electronics markets, it added.

Despite its small memory footprint, RoS-ES provides an impressive array of capabilities to support advanced features in these applications, making it an ideal choice for developers of new cutting-edge embedded systems.

TranSwitch Corporation, a leading provider of broadband access solutions for the consumer, enterprise and service provider markets, has licensed Tata Elxsi’s RoS-ES OS for its Atlanta 2000 family of communications processors which are optimized for Gigabit-rate packet processing applications, the release added.

The applications include secure broadband gateways, SSL/TLS and IPSec acceleration, and micro-PBX.

“TranSwitch selected RoS-ES as the OS for A2000’s fast path processor for broadband gateway router applications due to its high performance, small footprint, powerful options, and configurability. The proficiency of Tata Elxsi’s technical team and their familiarity with Tensilica processors was an important consideration in making our choice.” said Bill McDonald, director of CPE product marketing at TranSwitch Corporation.
