Tata Docomo, Shamiana to screen short films

MUMBAI, INDIA: Tata Docomo, in association with Shamiana – a short film club has recently announced the screening of short films for three days during the Kalaghoda festival 2010. The screening will takeplace on 8, 10 and 14 February, 2010 at 6pm.

The short films to be screened will be on the themes of the taglines of Tata Docomo. They are:

8 February 2010: Life changes in seconds

10 February 2010: Do More

14 February 2010: Dosti Unlimited or Buddynet

The screenings will include Shoonyata, a red carpet film at the New York film festival this year and Yeh Jahan, a film by upcoming director Amit Khanna that will premiere at this year’s festival. In keeping with the Buddynet theme of Tata Docomo, films made by a group of friends will also be part of the screenings, said a press release.

Speaking on Tata Docomo’s association with Shamiana, Abdul Khan, advisor to the MD and head of Tata Docomo marketing – Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd., said, “We at Tata Docomo believe in inspiring people to unleash their creativity, and short films are a perfect medium to do this. Our association has been very successful and we are particularly pleased that this is being showcased at the iconic Kalaghoda festival.”

The screening of short films in the Kalaghoda festival is pursuant to the Tata Docomo' Mini-Movie Contest that was announced in November 2009. The winner of this contest will get an opportunity to work as the assistant director in Kunal Deshmukh’s (the young Bollywood director) next venture.

The categories were: The Best Short Film, The Best Movie Shot with a mobile phone, and The Favorite.
