Tamil Nadu Government partners with Australian edtech company Matific

In a first-ever Government-Edtech collaboration, the Government of Tamil Nadu established a tie-up with Australian Edtech, Matific. They aim to digitize education, especially mathematics for class KG to sixth. In this pilot project, over 15 lakh+ students in TN will have access to mathematics e-learning.

What is Matific?

Matific is an e-learning platform for mathematics. It features videos, games, worksheet to make math fun. Teachers all over the world use it in over 40 languages. The portal combines interesting activities with a rigorous pedagogy. This will keep students engaged in maths whether at school or home.

Further, it is based on gaming principles. It encourages students to learn through discovery. At the same time, the portal aligns the learning to the local curriculum like the ICSE and CBSE board. Many professors, educational experts and curriculum specialists came together to develop this portal and make it interesting. Not just teaching, it also uses logical sequencing and staging to report on topics for each student, group, and class.

In a recent update, the company launched Matific Galaxy in India. Currently, they are available for K-6 learning only.

The pilot project conducted in over 150 schools across the state using Matific increased students’ results by 25.3 per cent. I am excited to introduce the portal to students in Tamil Nadu. We will take lead in digital learning across India. We want to make education fun and skill-oriented. Thus, we believe that this collaboration can help our students hone their skills and simultaneously add an element of fun into the learning process.

Tamil Nadu has proved to be a promising hub for new-age education as well. So, pushing the use of digital technologies in schools will put Tamil Nadu at the forefront of the STEM revolution in India. We are delighted to partner with the Tamil Nadu Government. This will encourage the platform across public schools in Tamil Nadu and be part of its future success.

According to the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, the govt established 320 schools based on STEM education model. These schools focus on understanding concepts and providing hands-on training. So, Matific aims to continue to build upon the success of the Matific for Schools pilot project. Therefore, it will work with Minister for School Education, Thiru K A Sengottaiyan and offer the platform in Tamil, ensuring that all students can use Matific in their mother tongue.
