Tamil Nadu CM-led council to replace IT Task force

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Information Technology Council (TNITC), headed

by Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, has been set up to replace the state's IT Task

Force.

An executive committee, headed by the state's Chief Secretary, consisting of

select members of the TNITC has also been set up, according to Government Order

14 of July 25. A significant feature is that all members will be part of the

Council as ex-officio members or in their official capacity.

With this move, the IT Task Force, headed by an individual and a sub

committee on Tamil in IT, set up by the previous DMK government has been

abolished.

The members of the council are: Education minister, Chief Secretary,

Development Commissioner, Secretaries of Industries and IT departments. The IT

secretary will be the convener of the council. The other members are Chairman,

TN State Council for Higher Education, Director, IIT-Madras, Vice Chancellor,

Anna University. The industry will be represented by presidents of Nasscom, MAIT

and Executive Director of Electronics and Software Exports Promotion Council and
