“There are some very specific and unique Indian segments such as jewellery, flourmills, chemist and pharmacy which we want to target with specific solutions,” said Bharath Gopalakrishnan, president, Tally India Software and services group.

Gopalakrishnan said that these solutions would be shipped in a month's time. Regarding Tally's foray into ERP, he said that Tally being a newcomer to the field would not be a disadvantage.

Neither is he fazed by the likes of SAP and Oracle launching products for the SME sector. “Unlike MNC ERP players, which tend to straightjacket the way in which the software is used, our ERP solution is flexible and adapts according to the growth of the SME customer's business,” he said.

Last week, Tally launched a concurrent multi-lingual business accounting and inventory management software. The company plans to piggyback on its latest release and the rising demand for ERP software among Indian SMEs to fuel its future revenue growth.

Tally's chief Bharat Goenka said that he hopes to close revenues of Rs 250 crore this fiscal from Rs 225 crore last year.

Armed with its language transliteration expertise, Tally also hopes to explore other markets where there is a need for such multi-lingual software.
