Prof. Prabhu Dev, Vice Chancellor, Bangalore University, said, “We have a semester system of education in the university. Almost 3,25,000 students appear for examination each semester and as many as 1,200 question papers are prepared. Manual evaluation of answer sheets is time-consuming. Once the online evaluation system is in place, it will help reduce manual effort as well as time- consumption taken for evaluation and tabulation.”

He added that Indian universities need to have an integrated and centralised system in place so that the quality of higher education improves. “How do we integrate all the colleges affiliated to the BU is very important. And our tie-up with Talisma will help achieve this,” he said.

Talisma said that lots of investments are happening in India and it sees a great opportunity in the higher education sector. It is planning to extend its solution to the rural market in the country to bridge the gap between urban and rural education.

Raj Mrithyunjayappa added, “Faculty and infrastructure problems are the main challenges our rural education sector is facing. Talisma is planning for big investment in this sector. We will provide digital and skills-based education to students from rural areas to bridge the gap.”

He added that it will incorporate the benefits of the Internet and mobile phones to provide easily-accessible education solution to students in rural areas.
