NEW DELHI: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has recently announced the
designation of 69 Technology Pioneers 2002. Pradeep Singh, CEO of Talisma Corp.
was among the elite group of individuals selected. The 'Technology Pioneers'
program was created in partnership with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in 2000 to
provide a new perspective on the technology horizon.
Each year, the Forum selects up to 100 Tech Pioneers, who are chief
executives that are developing and applying the most innovative and
transformational technologies. Their cutting-edge work in fields such as
proteomics, peer-to-peer, renewable energy and Internet infrastructure
represents an enormous resource of entrepreneurial talent.
The uniqueness of the Technology Pioneer network ensures that key
entrepreneurs are engaged in an integrated and interdisciplinary way, drawing on
the diversity, creativity and dynamism of each person. The Tech Pioneers will
provide the Foundation and its members with an in-depth knowledge of some of the
key technology issues facing society.
Each year Technology Pioneers are nominated by members, constituents and
collaborators of the World Economic Forum. The criteria for selection include:
Innovation, Growth and Sustainability, Proof of concept, Leadership, Status
and Potential Impact.
Nominees are evaluated by an external review committee comprised of
technology experts with respect to the criteria above, and the World Economic
Forum makes the final decision. Following are Technology Pioneers who were
invited to participate in the 2002 Special Program for Technology Pioneers:
