According to a recent report by Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT), the sale of tablets and smartphones in India rose up to 1.90 million in the fiscal year 12-13. With the world going digital, a drastic change is being witnessed in the consumer behavior. People are slowly shifting focus from computers to tablets due to various factors like mobility, convenience, affordability, weight, etc.

The Cybermedia report suggests that the PC era is slowly fading with surge in the demand of tablets. It reports that shipments of tablet devices in India, during the first quarter of 2013 jumped 159 percent year-on-year to account for 905,000 units.

As the market is getting flocked with international brands, Indian manufacturers do not want to be left behind. Maxx Mobile, a homegrown manufacturer of mobile phones and accessories, is soon to launch their own tablet in the Indian market at the most affordable price.

App developers are also trying to make the most of this opportunity. The recent launch of Kindle Fire was leveraged by a growing digital magazine store, Magzter. They tied up with Kindle Fire and are now available across 200 countries, which enables them to reach out to a larger target audience.

Experts believe that the tablets are here to stay and the industry will be hit with evolved version of tablets in the coming years.
