Tablets outsell mobile PCs in 2013

BOSTON, USA: According to the latest research from Strategy Analytics, global tablet shipments reached 227 million units in 2013, meaning the tablet platform out-shipped the Mobile PC for the first time ever.

In the latest research from Strategy Analytics Tablet & Touchscreen Strategies (TTS) service, global tablet sales reached 227 million units in 2013. Strategy Analytics estimates global Mobile PC shipments reached 182 million for the same period, meaning that in 2013 the Tablet platform overtook the Mobile PC in global shipment volume.

Peter King, director of Tablets at Strategy Analytics, said: "The global Tablet market experienced another high-growth year in 2013, with shipments up 33 percent. Tablets continue to resonate with consumers through their ease of use, convenience, and increasing versatility."
