T24 starts GSM mobile service in Karnataka

BANGALORE, INDIA: Riding on the 'Unpaid subscription model new entrant in mobile GSM services - T24 - on Thursday announced the launch of its mobile services in Karnataka. The T24 is a joint venture of Tata Teleservices Limited and Future Group, which runs a chain of retail outlets.

Under the new subscription model a customer can get his number recharged based on the bill amount of purchases made at select Future Group outlets or will have to purchase the re-charge coupons and get gift coupons to of the select outlets. T24 also offers per -second tariff plan.

"We are hoping to add a large number of subscribers who can be looking for an 'affordable' second cell phone connection. Our launches in six circles so far has evoked  a good response, we hoping to cross 1 million subscribers soon", said Mayur Toshniwal, CEO, T 24.

He said the new service will be powered by Tata Teleservices on the Tata Docomo's GSM platform. The service provider has already set up a dedicated call center for customer support and plans to set-up online stores in the near future.

The T24 service has already been launched in Future Group and Tata Teleservices has announced the alliance in February last. Eversince the new company has started GSM services in Gujarat, Jharkand,Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Toshniwal said that the T24 mobile telephony service will be progressively rolled out across the country in next few months.
