MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA: After having acquired Magma Design Automation, Ciranova and SpringSoft, Synopsys has acquired EVE, a supplier of emulation platforms for SoC verification. The terms or the size of the deal has not been disclosed. Emulation is a new technology which is used to verify complex systems on chips (SoCs).
Through this acquisition, Synopsys' customers can access verification offering in the industry. EVE's technology can be integrated with Synopsys' platform for simulation, debugging, verification IP (VIP), coverage, static verification, low-power verification, FPGA prototyping and virtual prototyping solutions.
EVE will become part of the Synopsys verification business unit, with Luc Burgun, President and CEO of EVE, leading the emulation team. As per Synopsys, the transaction will not have a material impact on its financial results in 2012 or 2013.
"Synopsys has long led in delivering high-performance verification solutions to address the verification challenges associated with the growing complexities in SoCs. By adding EVE's technology and engineering talent, Synopsys is expanding its investment in verification to continue to bring new technology innovations to our customers," said Manoj Gandhi, Senior VP and GM of Synopsys Verification Group.
EVE's emulation technology is used by major semiconductor and electronic systems companies across the world.
"The combination of Synopsys and EVE will allow us to deliver our emulation solution more broadly while integrating with Synopsys' best-in-class simulation, debug, VIP and prototyping solutions," said Luc Burgun, President and CEO of EVE. "I look forward to accelerating industry innovations in hardware-assisted verification as part of Synopsys."
