Symantec launches new Norton security products

NEW DELHI,INDIA: Symantec Corp., a provider in security, storage systems, today announced the launch of Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton AntiVirus 2009 in India.

It would set a new standard for speed and performance with improved security against next generation network threats and risks, maintaining the goal of ‘zero-impact’ on PC performance, said a press release.

Norton 2009 was compared to existing security products in the market by independent test labs PassMark Software and AV-Test in a lead up to its global launch, it added.

“Norton 2009 is a significant product in our history given the advancements over our existing product lines, in response to both user feedback and the rapidly evolving, complex nature of security threats and risks,” said Vishal Dhupar, managing director, Symantec India.

“Both products are supported by more than 300 improvements that span nearly every aspect of the product, from the scanning engines to the user interface,” he added.

The release stated that Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton Antivirus 2009 would provide fast and up-to-the-minute protection against all types of online threats, securing the computer, the identity and home network with the goal of zero-impact on your PC’s performance.

It provides an innovative new architecture engineered for speed, dramatically reduces boot time impact, scan time, memory usage as well as the system footprint and install time, it added.
