Symantec India office commences operations

BANGALORE: Symantec Corp. has announced the opening of its office in India and its strategy for the Indian market, which is in line with its worldwide strategy to focus on the content security market. This strategy builds on Symantec's focus on leadership in anti-virus and remote connectivity solutions to keep computing users secure productive.



Announcing this in Mumbai, executive vice president worldwide marketing sales and services Dana Siebert said the strategy builds on Symantec's expertise as a leader in anti-virus and remote connectivity. "The strategy leverages this core competency and makes the Internet the common thread in everything we do. Further, this will allow us to extend our leadership in the PC computing area to serve a connected world in the future."



The newly established Symantec India office will manage and co-ordinate all sales and marketing-related activities and work with the 25 recently appointed VAR's. In addition to this, by the end of the year, Symantec will also provide its end-users a dedicated telephone technical support from Mumbai for better service and accessability for its customers. Further, the company will continue to invest in infrastructure and resources over the next year.



To meet enterprise customers content security and remote device support needs, Symantec plans to develop web-based solutions that will support multiple platforms. Symantec plans to support a broader range of platforms including the Unix and Linux environment. With this strategy, Symantec's aim is to be a leader in Internet security by providing solutions that enable its customers to interact securely with the Internet in a simple manner.
