Sycamore, Siemens form optical switch alliance

CHELMSFORD: Network equipment maker Sycamore Networks Inc. and German

telecommunications equipment maker Siemens AG said on Wednesday they formed an

alliance to market Sycamore's optical switch and integrate it with Siemens'

products.

The companies said the alliance would allow Siemens to broaden it existing

lineup of next-generation optical networking products and expand its business

opportunities throughout the world.

Under the nonexclusive agreement, Sycamore's switching products will be sold

and supported directly by Siemens sales and customer service personnel from more

than 160 locations around the world, the companies said.
