Sybase unveils Bluetooth soln for Android devices

DUBLIN, USA: Sybase, Inc., an SAP company and industry leader in enterprise and mobile software has announced that its Sybase iAnywhere Blue SDK (Software Developer Kit), which supports the Bluetooth Core Specification version 3.0+ High Speed (HS), is now available for Android devices.

Sybase's solution is developed to reside on Android based computing platforms, offering a large number of profiles to users with unmatched short range wireless connectivity on a wide variety of devices said a press release.

“Bluetooth functionality continues to evolve and Sybase continues to be at the forefront in providing customers the tools that empower end users of all types with unmatched wireless communication capabilities,” said Dan Ortega, senior director of Mobility Product Marketing, Sybase.

"By adding Blue SDK for Android v1.0 to our SDK portfolio, Sybase further extends Bluetooth support to our extensive and open device support strategy for Sybase’s customer and partner ecosystem," added Ortega.

The latest feature set for Sybase Blue SDK supports both Bluetooth and 802.11 wireless connectivity to Android devices with data transfer for applications including streaming video transmissions and playing MP3 files.

Unlike open source solutions, Sybase SDKs are compliant with Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) specifications. Sybase’s compatibility, operational stability and comprehensive technical support help manufacturers reduce development costs, shorten time-to-market and apply strict compliance to the Bluetooth SIG's interoperability standards as they evolve, added the release.
