Sybase iAnywhere achieved the highest revenues and market share in a top 16 lists of companies that make up almost 90 per cent of the market and includes large systems management vendors, mobility companies, and pure-play MDM vendors, said a press release.

“In 2008, IDC observed MDM vendors adding advanced security capabilities, such as full disk encryption, antivirus and firewall, that support the core value propositions for enterprises – IT control, policy enforcement and regulatory compliance,” said Sean Ryan, Research Analyst, Mobile Enterprise, IDC.

He added that the lines between mobile management and security are further being blurred. As more enterprises evaluate MDM solutions, it would be important to find an offering that provides comprehensive management and security capabilities for various mobile infrastructures and device types.
