Sybase extends iPhone adoption in the enterprise

SANTA CLARA, Calif: Sybase, Inc., a provider in enterprise and mobile software, today announced that it has released new product offerings for the iPhone that extend enterprise functionality to service both internal employees and external end users.

The new capabilities enable secure device management, rich application development, as well as a complete solution for mobile banking. With these releases, Sybase enables organizations to adopt iPhone as a strategic platform, said a press release.

Sybase's new iPhone support includes key components of its mobile platform, Afarianow provides device management and policy enforcement for iPhone.

SQL Anywhere database and synchronization technology now brings scalable way to extend information in enterprise relational databases to line of business applications running on iPhone devices.

To meet the growing demand of consumers for mobile banking solutions, the company announced availability of its leading mobile banking iPhone application through the Sybase mBanking 365 platform, the release said.

"We are significantly expanding our iPhone offerings with advanced enterprise-ready features that are consistent with Apple's direction," said Raj Nathan, SVP and CMO, Sybase.

He added, "As an increasing number of consumers bring personal smartphones into the enterprise, there is a greater need to extend high levels of application performance, functionality and security to a wider range of mobile devices. Sybase continues to deliver the technology that customers require to fully embrace mobility within their enterprises."

Afaria 6.5 with iPhone support would be generally available in mid November. The SQL Anywhere for iPhone beta program is now open and the SQL Anywhere for iPhone beta software is now available, said the release.
