Switching, routing equipment sale up in 3Q

BANGALORE, INDIA: Ovum today posted its analysis of Asia Pacific third quarter 2008 service provider switching and routing equipment sales. Sales in 3Q08 grew to $1.0 billion overall, a 38 percent increase compared to 3Q07 and a two percent increase sequentially.

3Q08 AP highlights for technology-focused market segments:

·        ·          IP/MPLS core = $200 million, up 39 percent versus 3Q07

·        ·          IP/MPLS edge = $554 million, up 62 percent versus 3Q07

·        ·          ATM = $21 million, down 36 percent versus 3Q07

·        ·          Ethernet transport and services = $427 million, up 28 percent versus 3Q07
