Suvi Information to launch Hindi portal

Indore-based Suvi Information Systems is

launching a portal in Hindi, www.webdunia.com, on September 23 at the

India Internet World, to be held in Delhi. The site will have the usual

content of news, information on films, music, recipe from Tarla Dalal,

health, articles by Arun Shourie and chats, etc, and soon start offering

services such as bookings for hotel, train, airline, etc. No special fonts

need to be downloaded to view this site as the fonts have been encrypted

at the server level.

Prior to this site, the company had launched www.naidunia.com, a Hindi

daily, and www.epatra.com, a Hindi e-mail service. The new site and

epatra.com also interface in Marathi and Gujrati and soon will add

Malayalam, Punjabi and Assamese. The company also plans to form tie-ups to

enable services. For instance, it has tied-up with a grocery store, House

of Species (www.hos.com) for online shopping. In India, it is looking at a

tie up with a dry fruit vendor in Mumbai.

For initial one month, the company plans to make the site popular. It

plans to attract revenue through advertisements, providing platform for

business to business activities, sell services and technology.

In addition to web site development, the company is also into

development on PowerBuilder, Sybase DBA and Microsoft Virtual Studio. It

has bagged orders from Siddhartha Soya, a Birla group company, valued at

Rs 22 lakh, and Parental Drugs India for communication and inventory

management. It has also developed inventory management solution for

Quebecor, a printing company, for integrating inventory management across

its 137 locations in 27 cities. The company is also planning an office in

the US and one more in India, though the details were not available. Suvi

notched Rs 4.5 crore last year and is targeting Rs 16 crore in this

fiscal.

The company also has a $3.5 million subsidiary in New York, Diaspark,

which has an ERP solution for jewellers, called DiasparkJewel. The product

has 24 installations. It is targeting $7 million this fiscal (January to

December).
