This first-of-its-kind device couples patented Multi-Stage power protection, filtration, and noise elimination inside the convenience of a traditional PDU chassis, creating a unique combination that offers superior defense against server damage and business downtime.

Developed in conjunction with engineers at Dell specifically for their new PowerEdge VRTX server solutions, the Surge + PDU is the ideal choice for remote and small office settings. Designed to safeguard IT equipment from damaging surges, spikes, over voltage, EMI/RFI noise, and wiring faults, it provides a level of protection superior to IT systems utilizing only an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or power distribution unit (PDU). Featuring an optimal 1U space saving form factor that can be mounted in a rack or tower configuration, the Defender Series Surge + PDU can easily integrate into any system. This unique technology is superior to the single-stage MOV circuitry found in conventional surge protectors and is instrumental in reducing downtime for small and medium sized businesses.

Working in combination with a UPS, which is a key consideration to safeguard servers from power outages but is not designed to provide system wide power protection, the Surge + PDU insures increased uptime, longer component lifespans, reduced service calls, and greater customer satisfaction.

According to International Data Corporation, power disturbances account for about one third of all server failures. Yet many small to mid-sized businesses still keep servers on the same circuit as other office equipment where outlets are not dedicated, redundant, isolated, or protected-creating a hostile AC power environment and leaving businesses vulnerable.

"Unlike traditional, controlled datacenter environments, virtually every small and medium-sized business has significant exposure to power quality issues that can disrupt the reliability, processes, and data transmitted through networked server equipment," said Stephen F. Galloway, President, ESP/SurgeX. "Equipment replacement is costly, but lost revenue and customer dissatisfaction can be even more devastating to a business, so inadequate power protection is simply not an option."

The SurgeX Defender Series Surge + PDU is available in four variations, each with six C13 output connections, including a model with an IEC332 input for global markets.
