Taking suo-moto action, the commission has asked the telecom companies to present their case, in a bid to understand their side of the argument.

“We have decided to suo-moto investigate the matter since there was a huge furore about it,” UC Nahta, Member, CCI told reporters on the sidelines of an event. “The affected parties were supposed to present their case yesterday. But it was cancelled and a fresh date will be announced soon.”

It must be noted that the debate on Net Neutrality has reached epic proportions and the TRAI has so far received more than 5 lakh protests against its consultation paper on Net Neutrality.

Large media houses and e-commerce giants whose platforms were supported by organizations against the move, have pulled-out showing their unanimity with the fight for Net Neutrality.

Meanwhile, the committee set-up by DoT has said that it will submit its findings in the second week of May. Till then, the protests will get sharper and the support base will get larger.
