Sun's new offering for GlassFish and MySQL customers

SANTA CLARA, CA : Sun Microsystems Inc., today announced the immediate availability of a new offering to help customers achieve greater return on investment (ROI) and significantly reduce the costs of deploying and managing database and application server software. Sun GlassFish and MySQL Unlimited enables companies of all sizes to deploy the software on unlimited servers across their entire organization for a flat annual subscription.

Enterprise software customers are increasingly choosing open source software because they are demanding freedom from proprietary compliance issues, proprietary lock-in, and proprietary license fees. Users want to deploy the latest innovations on multi-CPU, multi-core hardware and the latest virtualization technologies, without incurring pricing penalties from proprietary software vendors.

GlassFish and MySQL Unlimited pricing starts at $65,000 USD a year for an unlimited number of servers across a customer's entire organization (for companies with fewer than 1,000 employees). Pricing is tiered by employee size for larger companies.
