NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtel, India's top mobile operator, has appointed its founder-chairman's son as a manager at a unit that holds its African assets, the company said in a statement.

Shravin Bharti Mittal, one of the twin sons of billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal, will be part of Bharti Airtel's international operations and his current remuneration will be 50,000 euros ($64,130) a year, the company said.

Prior to joining Bharti Airtel, Shravin was working with JP Morgan Cazenove in London as an analyst in the technology, media and telecommunications division of the investment banking unit, it said.

Shravin holds a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Bath in the UK, it added.

On Wednesday, Wipro had named Rishad Premji, the elder son of the company's billionaire founder and chairman, Azim Premji, as chief strategy officer of the information technology business.

Shiv Nadar-led HCL Group and Kishore Biyani-promoted Future Group are among companies that have recently brought on board next-generation scions from the promoter families.
