Sun posts two new projects for Java developers

NEW DELHI: Sun Microsystems Inc. has recently opened up two new projects to its 115,500 strong community of Java developers by posting them on its Java.Net community development site. Said an online report.

The two projects are Java Advanced Imaging and JAI Image I/O Tools. According to the online report, JAI simplifies the creation of imaging applications and delivers high-performance image processing functionality to Java applications. The JAI Image I/O Tools provide a pluggable framework for reading, writing and streaming image data and metadata.

Sun, is following software giant Microsoft's footsteps by offering early builds of its software to its community of developers.

Sun has moved the preview version of Mustang, the next release of J2SE (Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition) to the community site for developers to review. It has also unveiled a preview of its next version of Java Studio Creator tool, code-named Thresher Shark, aimed at improving the Web development experience.
