NEW DELHI: Recognizing the rapid strides made by India in economic
development and continuing its commitment to India, Sun Microsystems announced
its participation in the India Economic Summit 2000. Sun will be a strategic
partner to the World Economic Forum for the Summit to be held in New Delhi from
26 to the 28 of November 2000. The theme of the summit is "Leveraging
Knowledge for Growth — India on the move".
Information technology, the fast emerging driving force behind India's future
economic growth, will occupy center stage at the summit. Indian corporate
leaders will discuss how its economic concerns can be met by harnessing its IT
talent and skills, which in recent times have won immense recognition worldwide.
The forum would also discuss long-awaited initiatives like hastening the
liberalization process and the need for enhanced bandwidth and telecom
infrastructure that would need to be taken to make India a true "Global IT
Superpower".
