Sun Microsystems, NIIT join hands in training

BANGALORE, INDIA: Sun Microsystems, which is into advanced network computing systems, software and IT-related solutions, would join hands with NIIT, a global talent development corporation, to offer training on Sun technologies to students in Vietnam.

This partnership will also be expanded to other Asia Pacific markets including Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia through NIIT's network of IT training centers in the Asia Pacific region, a press release said on Wednesday.

Through this alliance, NIIT will have access to the latest Sun technologies, tools, technical resources and curricula on Java and Solaris platforms. Training on Java and  Solaris will be integrated into NIIT's IT career program, DNIIT.

Dr. Karie Willyerd, vice president and chief learning officer, Sun Microsystems Inc, said, “At Sun, our cause is to eliminate the digital divide. Bridging this divide will accelerate everyone's ability to join the Participation Age, enabling us to learn, share, interact, and solve problems together.”

Speaking on the partnership, Vijay K. Thadani, CEO, NIIT, said, “NIIT's partnership with Sun has enabled us to integrate training on these platforms in our globally acclaimed IT training programs, to enable thousands of students and professionals in Vietnam and the Asia Pacific region to be a part of global IT workforce."

Vietnam is an important and growing IT market where NIIT has been present for over seven years with 28 centers across the country, said the press release. NIIT has also been working closely with the government, academia and industry in Vietnam to foster skilled IT manpower for global talent requirement.
