The initiative will create a single, enterprise-wide learning and information resource for the company's 8900 employees including its group companies around the globe. The SumTotal deployment also will be part of TEL's Global HR System Integration Initiative.

SumTotal said in statement that TEL had been using several different learning platforms to deliver information and training across its divisions in Japan, Europe, the U.S., Taiwan, China and Korea. Using the TotalLMS, TotalLCMS and TotalAccess (for offline learning) TEL will consolidate its disparate systems into one, unified Global LMS.

The centralized resource will streamline delivery, improve operational efficiencies, decrease duplication of content development and administration efforts and ensure consistent dissemination and adoption of critical information and training across the entire enterprise.

TEL will utilize the system as the global training framework for providing comprehensive training programs to employees to enhance base-line skills and competencies.

Initially, TEL will use the GlobalLMS to provide technical training and certification for its field service engineers to raise customer service and satisfaction levels, a critical competitive goal for the company.
