Suguna goes live On Oracle Applications

Mumbai: The Coimbatore-based Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd (Suguna), a pioneer in integrated poultry farming in India, has completed the implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle Applications). With this, Suguna has become the first Indian poultry farming company to use a world-class enterprise applications suite from a global software vendor for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and management of other key business processes.

Speaking on the occasion, B Soundararajan, Managing Director, Suguna, said, "We were the first to execute contract farming operations for the benefit of Indian farmers and, today, we are the first to implement ERP in this industry. We have always stressed on leveraging information technology to the core to reap its benefits. This implementation helps us in setting up a robust information system to support our current and future growth."

"In order to support our aggressive business growth and our growing IT needs, we decided to  implement Oracle applications. We expect our operational efficiency and employee productivity to attain tremendous improvement with this implementation," Soundararajan added.

The Oracle Applications implementation, which was completed in eight months, extends across  Suguna's corporate office, nine regional offices and 100 branch offices, six grandparent poultry farms, 120 breeder farms, 30 hatcheries, 10,000 broiler farms, around 25 feed mills and five transportation offices. As Suguna is a pioneer in integrated poultry farming in India, with more than 10,000 farmers from 270 business locations across India feeding into Suguna's supply chain, IT has always been an integral part of the company's growth plans.

The Oracle Applications modules implemented at Suguna include enterprise resource planning, advanced pricing, enterprise asset management, self-service work request, incentive compensation, and advanced supply chain planning and constraint brand optimization.

Oracle has 500 applications customers in India. Oracle's applications customers in India span major industries including telecommunications, banking, insurance, manufacturing and utilities in both the government and the private sectors.
