BANGALORE: Subex Systems Ltd., which specializes in software for the
telecommunications sector, said on Tuesday it has won an order worth $500,000
from an African telecom services provider.
"The contract has been awarded by a GSM (global system for mobile
communications) operator in Africa for two of Subex's products," the
Bangalore-based company said in a statement. It did not name the client.
"The total time frame within which we will get the payment is about two
to three months during which the order will be implemented," a company
spokesman told Reuters. Subex opened an office in Johannesburg in South Africa
about a year ago to tap a growing wireless telephone market.
Subex, which has products for telecom service providers in areas like fraud
management and billing verification, is one of the few Indian software companies
that focuses on products unlike the majority which offer software services
billed by the hour.
