BANGALORE, INDIA: Subex Ltd, a provider of operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) for communication service providers (CSPs), announced the launch of Asset Assurance, a Data Integrity Management (DIM) solution. The solution will enable CSPs to identify and discover expensive and rapidly changing network assets, thereby enhancing the accuracy of asset management and inventory systems.

Discovery of network assets poses multi-fold challenges to operators today, it says in a press release. CSPs are unable to track up to 30 per cent of the network assets accurately and the primary reason for this is that maintenance of data is often manual, leading to data sources going stale and out-of-sync with the network. This results in avoidable CapEx and low return on assets. Operators are often unable to gauge if new assets are being deployed by vendors as per specifications.

Another challenge is the reconciliation of leased line costs to actual usage, the company adds. The biggest hurdle they face, however, is in enforcing financial controls and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Ernst &Young estimates that 60 per cent of service providers worldwide painstakingly verify their ¬fixed asset registers annually through costly but inefficient manual network audits.

"Asset Assurance does for network assets, what Revenue Assurance does for operator revenue", says Mark Nicholson, CTO, Subex Ltd. "It enhances the accuracy of asset management and inventory systems, resulting in better regulatory compliance and optimized asset deployment. It aims to help CSPs reclaim millions of dollars worth of stranded assets, hence improving their network utilization by as much as 25 percent", he added.
