“MedTech” – Start-up Open Challenge Program Contest

The Open Challenge Program (OCP) is an opportunity for a budding startup to work on the problem statements identified by Government, Industry, Academia & Startup in the focused domains of MedTech. OCP is a platform where a startup gets an opportunity to solve problems through innovative solutions. Through a multi-tier screening process, emerging start-ups will be identified, shortlisted, selected and recognized by way of a cash prize up to Rs. 1 lakh and will get the opportunity to be incubated at MedTech, a CoE in Medi Electronics & Health Informatics.

Key Aspects of the Program

• Only Private Companies, LLP, and Partnership firms can apply. The date of registration should not be more than 10 years ago.

• The program is in two phases. Phase-1: Shortlisting of Ideas, POCs, and Solutions having strong potential and Phase-2: Selection of start-ups for this program through the pitch-in session.

Point of Care Technology (POCT)

Rapid Test Kits for any Tropical Diseases are not connected digitally, and In order for the healthcare to reach interiors of the country, the key solution is digital connectivity in Diagnostics. Many of the basic parameters that are tested on the rapid tests could be "digitized" and the diagnosis can happen remotely and the healthcare can be provided to a wider population of the country. These could also be used for Preventive Healthcare which will bring down costs to the government significantly.

AI-based medical screening solutions have recently been extensively explored for the use of pneumonia detection in many scientific studies, and such approaches have also been proposed during this pandemic.

Patient Care

Digital Point for Tracking Doctors and Patients can be created. The patient can be completely tracked from his point of origination to tele-OPD, then referring him to the nearest hospital and shifting him to tertiary care if required, all patient prescriptions, bills, doctors treating him and his current location can be tracked so that an end to end treatment is possible.

Patient Mobility and Back Support System

Prompt Ambulance Services is one of the key factors in a healthcare facility therefore a floating control room can be established with GPS System to not only monitor the movement of the ambulances but also provide a facility for on the spot rapid testing. The ambulances can be fitted with a camera to ensure social distancing.

A universal system of electronic medical records (EMR) that would allow access to patient information at every potential venue of care while still providing privacy, security, and autonomy of patient information.

What will the winners get?

The inner will get financial support through seed funding and access to Funding and Investment. They will also get SGPI lab facilities.

The applications to this Medtech challenge began on August 20 and the last date to apply is September 18.
